I HAVE A VERY IMPORTANT PSA FOR EVERYONE:
PLAY THIS GAME
In light of Ubisoft’s decision to cut female characters from co-op in Assassin’s Creed and their statement that including females would essentially be too much work and that is the “reality” of video game development, I highly suggest you all turn towards this.
Child of Light was developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft, and here are the reasons why it’s so important:
- You play as a female protagonist
- Who is not sexualized in any way, shape, or form
- And is charged with saving a man- her father
On top of these already wonderful elements, Aurora, our protagonist, is an incredibly rich character who is strong, brave, and kind, but is also not afraid to get upset and cry.
In addition, the art style of this game is stunning. It is one of the most visually beautiful games I have ever played with a hauntingly beautiful soundtrack set against all sorts of terrain and environment. Also, you can fly.
When asked “what is a princess?”, Aurora replies “the daughter of a queen”. You read that right; the daughter of a queen.
Aaaaand every line of dialogue rhymes in an, usually, ABCB rhyme scheme. It’s awesome.
This game is $14.99 as a digital download on the Playstation store and other respective console stores, and there’s a good chance it can play on your console (if not, it is available for Windows!).
Show Ubisoft that female protagonists matter. Play this game.
